The Company

The Company are Roy Moller, Stevie Jackson and Gary Thom. Since launching The Company in Autumn 2006, the three have collaborated on a vast array of songs ranging from Mike Nesmithesque country pop to Dusty Springfield-style torch ballads, from joyous power pop to plaintive acoustic balladry.

The Company’s discreet entry into the recording world came with Roy & Gary providing a little assistance to Electric Box, the ‘A’-side of a 45 rpm single (backed with the lovely ballad Bird’s Eye View) released as part of Stevie’s ongoing collaboration with Nadfly’s Nicola Atkinson Davidson.

Electric Box was inspired by the youth wardens of Abbeyview, a housing project in Dunfermline. 10 copies were made ready for the SEE EYE art event in March 2007 with a further 500 released that August.

GARY – Gary’s pop-literate drumming and sparkling songwriting powered the golden pop of Astrid whose Edwyn Collins-produced debut album Strange Weather Lately remains an undervalued gem. Like Stevie, a former Moondial.

STEVIE – A member of the Moondials prior to joining Belle & Sebastian for an illustrious career as guitarist, singer and Novello-nominated songwriter. Also a member of the Bill Wells Trio. Both Gary & Roy feature in the video for Stevie’s Belle & Sebastian song The Wrong Girl and, with Bill Wells, were Stevie’s backing group for his performance at Chickfactor’s Mon Galas Papillons in London in December 2004.

Having played keyboards and bass for Stevie at Hey You Get Off My pavement in June 2008, Roy featured in Stevie’s solo set at Bowlie 2, December 2010, described by Vanity Project as “ideal Sunday lunchtime acoustic fare”.
